Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do you take insurance?
Due to the nature of my business, traveling to clients' homes or offices and providing treatment for 1 hour, I am an out-of-network provider for all insurance companies. I want to be able to provide the best quality care without the time constraints and visits restrictions that insurance companies impose on physical therapy clinics. As a result, payment is due at time of service. I accept cash, check, credit card, or FSA or HSA. Call for current rates.
2. I have out-of-network benefits benefits from my insurance company, am I eligible for reimbursement?
Potentially. You will need to call your insurance company prior to treatment to see if there are any restrictions for out-of-network benefits (i.e. pre-authorization or physician referral). At the end of treatment, I will give you a superbill when requested with all the necessary information to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
3. Do I need a physician's referral?
No. Massachusetts is a direct access state, which means that you can see a physical therapist without a physician referral. However, if you think you may seek insurance reimbursement you may need a referral prior to treatment to receive reimbursement. Please check with your insurance plan for any restrictions that they may have. I can provide you with a script to call your insurance company.
4. What can I expect during the evaluation?
An initial evaluation lasts for approximately 50 minutes for a complete patient assessment. It involves a detailed medical history, physical examination of strength, muscle length, posture, and gait. Additionally, it will include development of an individualized home exercise program to address any impairments found during the examination. A plan of care will be developed and discussed with the client, which will includes predicted length of treatment (ie. 3-6 sessions), based on the complexity of your condition.
5. Do you do an internal examination?
Depending on your condition or suspected diagnosis, an internal examination may be recommended to further evaluate your pelvic floor, of course this is only if you are comfortable with that. I will let you know ahead of time if I think it will be helpful information for your treatment.
6. How far do you travel?
I mainly see clients in the towns of Norwell, Hingham, Scituate, Cohasset, Hanover, Marshfield, and Pembroke. If you do not see your town listed, give me a call and I can see if we can arrange a solution as I also provide telehealth consults.
